Using local speed information as routing metric for delay tolerant networks

چکیده
In many practical situations, the mobility is critical factor for an intended message delivery. Recently studies have found that mobility itself affects the network performance (capacity of the network, security, connectivity, coverage, etc.). However, how to effective use these characteristics of mobility in design DTN routing protocol has not been well studied yet. In this paper, we proposed a routing protocol that uses speed of the local node as routing metric for opportunistic packet relay in DTN (Delay Tolerant Networks). Moreover, the choosing of the relay nodes is only based on the comparison of speed value. It does not require any history information, global knowledge or mobility patterns of other nodes. This makes our schemes ideal for resources limited (computational power, memory, etc.) and dynamic large-scale networks. The performance of our protocol is compared with several related works. Simulations show that our scheme has better performance. Key-Words: DTN, n-copy routing, mobility, resources, ONE

Novel Metric Conditional Shortest Path Routing in Delay Tolerant in Wireless Mobile Ad-hoc Networks
Routing in delay tolerant networks (DTN) is a challenging problem because at any given time instance, the probability that there is an end-to-end path from a source to a destination. Opportunistic delay tolerant networks are organized by the sporadic connectivity between their nodes and the lack of stable paths from sender to receiver. Future connections are mostly unknown in these networks sen...
متن کاملExMin: A routing metric for novel opportunity gain in Delay Tolerant Networks
Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) are characterized by intermittently connected links formed by mobile nodes’ probabilistic encounters. Most DTN routing techniques use the first encountered node who has smaller routing metric as a relay node. Prior work on DTN routing can be broadly classified into one which takes the minimum out of expected delays for all possible individual routing paths, referr...

Abstract Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a particular type of mobile ad hoc network in which vehicles communicate between themselves using wireless antenna. Due to unique characteristics of VANETs (e.g. high mobility of nodes and dynamic topology), routing is one of the challenging tasks in such networks. Consequently, delay tolerant networks which consider the disconnect nature of...

Today, the use of wireless and intelligent networks are widely used in many fields such as information technology and networking. There are several types of these networks that MPLS networks are one of these types. However, in MPLS networks there are issues and problems in the design and implementation discussion, for example security, throughput, losses, power consumption and so on. Basically,...
متن کاملEnergy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...
